PHASE I - ADAMJEE CAMP UPDATE
BEFORE CLEAN UP
These pictures were taken on my first visit to this campsite on April, 2015. Landfills of waste surrounded the deteriorated community toilets and the homes of the camp dwellers.
The camp dwellers lived in this campsite without proper drainage, proper sewage system, improper latrine facilities for the last 40 years. |
FPO Charity along with SPACE Organization is working together to give these people the basic survival needs in order to give them a comfortable way of living. Of course, it will never be comparable to the facilities we have access to in the Western world, but at least it will bring some extent of comfort that they deserve.

DEMOLITION AND OPERATION CLEAN UP
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
After months of negotiation an agreement was signed by both parties FPO Charity & SPACE organization on September 21, 2015.
Initial deposit of $20,000.00 was wired to SPACE organization on November 22, 2015 for beginning of PHASE I construction.
December 1, 2015, the day that all camp dwellers living in Phase I came together as a team and participated in "OPERATION CLEAN UP". FPO officials felt that the participation of camp dwellers in "OPERATION CLEAN UP" would be of importance since this will give ownership title to the camp dwellers of their new facilities being installed. Men, women, & children all participated in the clean up process. According to FPO project manager, Mr. Syed Alauddine said the camp dwellers were all very cooperative and look forward to the new facilities. SPACE organization demolished the community toilet and continued to cleanup the leftover waste that camp dwellers were unable to complete.
FPO Charity included 180 manpower hours in the budget contract for community participation in clean up. The camp dwellers will be compensated for the number of hours that they participated in operation clean up. This will be a start of our "self empowerment" program. This program will create jobs for the camp dwellers to help maintain the new facilities being installed.
